Edinburgh Rehearsals

General Information (v2.0 - 10 Jun 00)
Heading Details
Date/Time Thursday 20th July, 2000. 10:00-17:00 (10am - 5pm)
Location Room G20, School of Management, James Watt Conference Centre
Getting There Do allow plenty of time. If you are coming straight for the airport using public transport, then I would recommend taking a taxi. JWCC is on the same side of town as the airport, so it should certainly be no more expensive than getting taxi to the centre of town. And do ask for the Conference Centre at the Riccarton Campus and not just Heriot Watt in general.

Draft Rehearsal Schedule

Inevitably, there will be periods when not everyone will be 'on', especially when we are rehearsing the character parts (Kathi, Niccie & Sophie, etc). However, please

  • do as much DIY rehearsing as you can when you are not formally required to
  • volunteer to read-in for absent people (most notably FFJ, Goro and DeSlime who will be in an 'official' rehearsal the whole time.
  • Return to the rehearsal room 5 minutes before you are required.
  • If you have a mobile phone, give Karen Rex your number so that we can recall you if necessary
  • Don't wander too far: it's just possible that we may get ahead of schedule and need you earlier.
  • Please please please please be prompt. There are 10 time slots below. If each one starts 10 minutes late, we will lose our final run-through of the day, or else force at least 3 groups of people to miss out on rehearsing completely.
  • The other rehearsals (on the Sunday) are technical rehearsals and will simply be run-throughs. The only chance we have to work on getting things right in any kind of detail is the Thursday rehearsal.
Item Details
09:30-10:00 Arrival. You must arrive, had introduced yourselves to Karen Rex, got a name badge, written your name on it, found a chair, said hi to everyone and subsided into an expectant silence by 10am. The rehearsal will start at 10am on the dot. If you are late (and you won't be except for those who have already let me know) then you will silently contact Karen Rex (the woman in charge of the CD player the tape recorder - her picture is in the Rogues Gallery). If you've forgotten anything or have any other problems, let Karen know.

Session 1:
10:00 - 12:00. Complete Run-through

There will be a complete run-through of the whole thing from song 1 to song 16, including the spoken elements. This will be a straight through rehearsal, with minimal props, costumes etc. If you are lacking something at this point, mime it. If you forget your words you will be prompted. The point of this part of the rehearsal is so that Cindy and I can get a feel for how things are going. There will be NO SCRIPTS at this point or at any point during the day, except for you to make notes on regarding any changes that may be forced upon us by circumstances.
Session 2:
12:00-12:30 - Jury

Jury Rehearsal - this is the Jury Rehearsing their 'big numbers'. A list is below. During this time, other people should evacuate the main room (if possible) and meet up with each other in corridors, the car park - especially the people working with each other, e.g. The Naxettes; Julius & Anna; Godscalc and Ludo and Godscalc's Bannerman and Ludo's Bannerman (those not in the Jury); They can get a little sotto voce practising in, but MUST be back in the main room by 12:30 if they are Goro, DeSlime.
