Rehearsals
| General Information (v2.0 - 10 Jun 00) | |
| Heading | Details |
| Date/Time | Thursday 20th July, 2000. 10:00-17:00 (10am - 5pm) |
| Location | Room G20, School of Management, James Watt Conference Centre |
| Getting There | Do allow plenty of time. If you are coming straight for the airport using public transport, then I would recommend taking a taxi. JWCC is on the same side of town as the airport, so it should certainly be no more expensive than getting taxi to the centre of town. And do ask for the Conference Centre at the Riccarton Campus and not just Heriot Watt in general. |

| 09:30-10:00 | Arrival. You must arrive, had introduced yourselves to Karen Rex, got a name badge, written your name on it, found a chair, said hi to everyone and subsided into an expectant silence by 10am. The rehearsal will start at 10am on the dot. If you are late (and you won't be except for those who have already let me know) then you will silently contact Karen Rex (the woman in charge of the CD player the tape recorder - her picture is in the Rogues Gallery). If you've forgotten anything or have any other problems, let Karen know. | ||
|
Session 1: |
There will be a complete run-through of the whole thing from song 1 to song 16, including the spoken elements. This will be a straight through rehearsal, with minimal props, costumes etc. If you are lacking something at this point, mime it. If you forget your words you will be prompted. The point of this part of the rehearsal is so that Cindy and I can get a feel for how things are going. There will be NO SCRIPTS at this point or at any point during the day, except for you to make notes on regarding any changes that may be forced upon us by circumstances.
| Session 2: 12:00-12:30 - Jury |
Jury Rehearsal - this is the Jury Rehearsing their 'big numbers'. A list is below. During this time, other people should evacuate the main room (if possible) and meet up with each other in corridors, the car park - especially the people working with each other, e.g. The Naxettes; Julius & Anna; Godscalc and Ludo and Godscalc's Bannerman and Ludo's Bannerman (those not in the Jury); They can get a little sotto voce practising in, but MUST be back in the main room by 12:30 if they are Goro, DeSlime. Jury members also. Other people should continue rehearsing on their own.
Tip: Good time to go to the loo if you're not in the Jury! |
Gelis, Goro, DeSlime practise 'From Both Sides Now' in a car somewhere!
|
FFJ and Jury Foreman rehearse the Verdict. |
|
From 'Silence in Court' to end of 'I've Got A Little List'. Including:
Tip: Have lunch if you're not on. Continue to practice. |

|
Session 4: 13:00-13:30: Kathi, DeSlime, Goro and Marian, Ushers |
Script from 'I now Call Katelijne Sersanders' to 'Call the Nut With The Knife'. Songs are:
Tip: This is the first break for the Jury members who should go to the loo, have lunch and generally collapse in a heap on the floor. The poor Ushers are still on. Goro had better grab a sandwich while he (she!) can during Kathi's singing bit. |
||
|
The script from 'Call Anna, Countess Von Wenzel' (though the usher parts will be read in by me, so that the Ushers can a break) to Julius's Exit.
|
The Jury members practice finger clicking and yelling out 'TRADE!' and 'Venice To Cathay, To Guinea All the Way' with Cindy in the corridor or car park.
|
Session 6: Ludo's Bannerman, Godscalc's Bannerman, Astorre, and Goro.
|
Script from 'Ludo and Godscalc Enter' to 'we have heard that Nicholas is innocent'.
Tip: DeSlime takes a break. |
At the same time, Simon H will walk though 'Scotsman' with Gelis, Marian, Mime Simon, Mime Adoring Maidens 1 and 2, Mime Katelina Butterfly Wrangler, Mime Nicholas) to try to get the business right.
| Session 8: 14:30-15:00: Jury, Gelis, DeSlime, Goro, Gelis, Marian, Mime Simon, Mime Adoring Maidens 1 and 2, Mime Katelina Butterfly Wrangler, Mime Nicholas |

Tip: While this is going on, people should be getting into Costume and Makeup, and making sure that they're read for the full run-through |
||
| Session 8: 15:00-15:30: Naxettes, DeSlime |
Script from 'Thank you Captain' to 'My Phone Number, Sveetie, Call me soon!'
Tip: Goro takes a break. The people in the next section should get into Costume, prepare props, makeup etc. NB. If Tina Dallas has not arrived at this point, this rehearsal slot will be swapped with the 15:00-15:30 slot. |

Session 9: |
|
||
| 17:00 |
On the dot, clear everything out of the room as quickly as possible - we only have it hired until 17:00. Then congratulate yourselves and go down to the pub! Cindy and I will be lying on the floor of the pub in a state of exhaustion from about 18:00 to at least 21:00. I would imagine that Liz and Cleo will also be lying prone for the same reason! |
