The central
area of the Fort. This has been handed over to the Order of St John and
so is not open to the public (boo hiss). The Grand Master's House where
Juan de Homedes lived was on this site, and may even have been the same
building. |

Below
is the swimming pool which Lymond used to practice for his planned swim
to Gozo. Or maybe it's more recent than that...

Lookout
nook, overlooking Ft Ricasoli and the entrance to the Grand Harbour. Not
bad quality for a video shot! |

Looking
down into the interior of Ft St Angelo from the high point at the rear
of the fort.

Looking
from the rear of the fort over the barracks toward Ft St Elmo (the tip of
Valletta) on the other side of the Grand Harbour. Fort St Angelo was the
HQ of the British Mediterranean fleet until 1979. The Duke of Edinburgh
was stationed here when he was in the navy, after WW2 and hefore his wife's
accession in 1952. |

Looking
from St Angelo over towards St Elmo. You can also see the memorial to
World War 2 - the pillared rotunda in the left hand quarter of the picture.
